Diane de Clercq
Diane De Clercq, born in Belgium and is a knitwear designer known for her sense of play....interesting color combinations and fantastical shapes and characters. She lived in CÂte d’Azur as a child and adolescent, and remembers “I would paint on everything I saw and touched: pieces of cloth, doors, walls, materials, and fabrics.” At the age of 17, she enrolled in the School of Decorative Arts in Nice. She traveled and decided to stop in Rome, in order to grow roots there, “because Rome is pink and made for affection.” Together with a group of artisan women from Umbria, she created knit collections using precious and natural materials for clothing and housewares.
Designed by Diane and hand or manual knit on machines from the 20's and 40's in and around Rome, Italy by skilled craftspeople.
